Playing with Type

June Corley's sculptures are the perfect merging of her love for old signage letters, vintage letterpress printing blocks and found objects that resemble faces. After building huge collections of each over the past 20 years, it was only a matter of time before she would start combining them. And as a very visual graphic designer, the sculptures are another way for her to have fun "playing with type" while making art out of discarded objects. She started creating the sculptures in December 2006 after moving from Atlanta to Loachapoka, Alabama. As of August, 2009, she had completed 62 sculptures.
