Fantich and Young: Apex Predator Shoes

British artists Mariana Fantich and Dominic Young have re-interpreted the classic Oxford shoe by replacing the rubber soles with 1,050 teeth dentures. The "Apex Predator Shoe" visually addresses the parallels between social evolution and evolution in the natural world. Nature as model or nature as a threat. These shoes are designed for predators with no predators of their own, residing at the top of their food chain.

  3. Those are unique. I think I've seen some pretty strange shoe designs in my time and this definitely ranks as one of them. I understand the concept and it is good that they decided to develop a prototype.

    When I saw them first I didn't realize that they had used actual shoe dentures. I thought that they had used regular rubber that was fomred to look like teeth.

    In terms of functionality, is this a viable idea? Can shoes made from dentures take the wear of carrying an average of 180 pounds and grinding against all types of surfaces?

    Is this just an artistic piece, like one of those outfits you see on the runway? If so, what would the more durable version of this shoe look like?

  6. I honestly don’t know what will be the reaction of my cosmetic dentist boca raton regarding this shoe design. But on the other side, this shoe is quiet fashionable, but I’m just wondering, what if they’ve run out of teeth dentures resources?..
