Colorful Play Doh Portraits of Popes Inside Tin Cans

"Polka Popes" is a large wall installation by Berlin-based artist Miriam Jonas made up of a series of fictional play-doh portraits of popes meticulously hand crafted inside empty fish tin cans. Miriam's portraits are a satire on consumer culture and the modern church, reducing larger than life clerical figures into products ready for consumption. The fish cans are a winking reference to traditional Christian symbols.
