Duchamp's Iconic Bicycle Wheel Recreated Using Mass Produced Objects

In a contemporary interpretation of the Dadaist concept of readymade, Brooklyn-based Japanese artist Nobutaka Aozaki created a series of variations of Duchamp’s famous Bicycle Wheel using manufactured products such as IKEA furniture and wheels from children's bicycles. The idea for this project draws from the well-known expression of calling some artists, mostly conceptual artists, who are heavily influenced by Marcel Duchamp "Children of Duchamp". Speaking about the project Aozaki says, " I appropriate historical
artworks or images to initiate a dialogue about them, not to make them objects of the past."
