Moving Day: Fluorescent-Lit Piles of Discarded Furniture Photographed at Night

Montreal-based photographer Benoit Paillé has been working on a new series of urban landscapes using fluorescent light to photograph piles of discarded furniture and household objects at night. The project titled "Moving Day" is a commentary on the disposable nature of contemporary culture. Paillé says light is predominant in the process of sublimation of the commonplace, of the forgotten and neglected subject. Speaking about the project he says, "I work and explore light as I would a sculptural media, as a matrix of what we can see and interpret."
