Moving Day: Fluorescent-Lit Piles of Discarded Furniture Photographed at Night

Montreal-based photographer Benoit PaillĂ© has been working on a new series of urban landscapes using fluorescent light to photograph piles of discarded furniture and household objects at night. The project titled "Moving Day" is a commentary on the disposable nature of contemporary culture. PaillĂ© says light is predominant in the process of sublimation of the commonplace, of the forgotten and neglected subject. Speaking about the project he says, "I work and explore light as I would a sculptural media, as a matrix of what we can see and interpret."
