Designer Creates Beautiful Functional Objects Cut from IKEA Furniture

German designer Samuel Treindl creates functional objects by taking IKEA’s distinctive PS cabinet and cutting out metal shapes to fabricate matching lamps, clocks and other accessories. The process which he calls "parasitic strategy" reflects the manufacturing process and the history of the production. "As a producer and designer, I have to pay attention to the manufacturing of products, but also to offcuts and wasted material" Treindl says, "Material that’s not critical to the product’s framework is reborn as another object."
