Artist Creates Intricately Constructed Luminograms Made from Mushrooms

"Fungi Luminograms" is an ongoing series of photo works by London-based artist David Robinson, made using hand-cut mushrooms and photosensitive paper. Arranging different kinds of mushrooms directly on the plate glass of his enlarger, Robinson varies the intensity of light exposed to his subjects to create mysterious night-time worlds. Speaking about his creative process Robinson says, "The process of creating the luminogram rapidly causes the destruction of the delicate original mushroom design – each successful print is all that remains. The inspiration for the work, and the materials are as fleeting, ephemeral and transient as each other."
