A Temporary Art Pavillion Constructed Entirely from Recycled Cardboard Tubes

Designed by Shigeru Ban Architects for the Abu Dhabi Art Festival, this temporary structure is a large pavilion constructed almost entirely from recycled cardboard tubes of various sizes. The specially commissioned structure housed the Abu Dhabi Art Design Souq, a space featuring products, talks, demonstrations, and workshops by artists and artisans. The project further explores Shigeru Ban’s experiments with ecologically-sound building materials such as cardboard tubes and paper.
