Light Rorschach: Long Exposure Photos of Whirling Sparks Reflected in Water

Using burning steel wool as the basic material for his light effects and a camera with a long exposure, photographer Nicolas Rivals creates gorgeous photos of circular sparks of light reflected in a still pool of water. Many of the images resemble strange glowing masks, however just like the Rorschach inkblots the photos rely on the viewer to provide different interpretations. Rivals says, "Looking back at the viewer with the same degree of scrutiny that we look at them, these masks seem to shout -tell me what you see and I’ll tell you who you are."
