Ordinary Household Objects Painted to Look Like Black and White Line Drawings

Conceptual artist Cynthia Greig combines photography and paint to create deceptively simple two dimensional white line drawings. For her series titled "Representations", Cynthia used charcoal to draw lines directly onto the surfaces of ordinary objects which have been “whitewashed” with house paint, creating photographs that don’t look like a photographs. Cynthia explains, "By drawing directly onto the object, I’m fusing a symbol of the object with the actual object. I’m making a photograph that doesn’t look like a photograph, raising essential questions about our expectations and assumptions about how photographs function.
