Environmental Artist Patsy R. Davis Transforms the Detritus of Everyday Life

Using plastic lids, floppy disks and water bottles, environmental artist Patsy R. Davis recyles others' detritus to create installations that preserve resources in order to honor the bounty and beauty of Earth. Unable to resist the allure of dumped urban detritus, Davis recomposes and intervenes in the trash to scrap cycle to come up with installations that pose fundamental questions to the viewer. What are the costs of our choices? Would we make different choices if we were more aware of the environmental costs of energy, materials, transport and disposal? If we truly understood the costs to produce petroleum products, to transport them and dispose or remanufacture them, would we change our behavior?
