Sculptor Robin Antar Carves Hyperrealistic Sculptures of Everyday Objects Out of Stone

Robin Antar is an artist based in Brooklyn, whose unique oversized sculptures capture the every day iconic objects of American Culture. Using mostly marble, travertine and alabaster, Antar replicates the model on a life-scale with meticulous detail. She achieves this high degree of realism through incorporating such materials as parts of the real object, custom-made stains, paints, plastics and gold leaf. Via her website, "My Passion as a sculptor involves a technique I uncovered more than 20 years ago -- the precise art of creating 'virtual records' of contemporary culture -- capturing common, everyday items in stone."
