Bronze Busts Made from Repurposed Plastic Toys and Found Objects by Albert Westerhoff

Like Dr. Frankenstein, artist Albert Westerhoff, seamlessly re-configures kitsch, art, and plastic toys into disturbing and fascinating, little oddities by dissecting and transplanting the various parts and merging different creatures together. Westerhoff makes molds and casts wax copies of the fragments and reassembles them into new sculptures which are then cast in bronze. He says, "Like their physical appearance, the personalities of my sculptures are ‘copied and pasted’. They are empty shells, masks, facades. The process by which they acquire an identity is one of desperately grabbing on to any reference they can. "
