Artist Uses a Blowtorch to Transforms Industrial Steel Objects into Visually Delicate Lace

Using a blowtorch, sculptor Cal Lane turns industrial objects like ammunition cans, wheelbarrows and oil drums into intricate lacy artworks inspired by traditional decorative art forms including tapestry, lace, and metal filigree, Lane's work combines industrial and domestic life as well as relationships of strong and delicate, masculine and feminine, practical and frivolity, ornament and function. Via her website, "Lane’s tapestries, welded into harsh and often preternaturally large steel and iron structures, are sensual, alluring and deeply effeminate."
