Architect Creates an Impressive Replica of his Home City Using Thousands of Coins

Patiently stacking and arranging more than 50,000 coins, architect He Peixi spent a month building an impressive miniature model of his hometown of Chongqing in China. Without using glue or any other supporting structure, Peixi, worked two hours a day stacking up silver and gold coins to construct buildings and city bridges. When it came to creating the Yangtze River and the Jialing River - the two waterways that run through the city - he used red and green agate stones. He Peixi has been interested in creating art with coins for the past three years. Last year, he made a replica of the Titanic out of coins in only ten days. “It is a painful work to do,” he says, “but once you finished it, there’s only satisfaction.”
