Photographer Captures Opposing Views Reflected Through Mirrors Placed in Various Landscapes

Using a mirror mounted on simple wood stands, French photographer Guillaume Amat creates strange dreamlike images that reflect the surrounding landscape like a mirage. Each photo in the "Open Field" series, simultaneously looks forward and backwards creating a reflective representation of nearby buildings and fields. Writer Paul Wombell compared this series to the Greek myth of Orpheus and Eurydice saying, "The photographic images create a strange landscape where buildings and figures float in the center of the picture and suggest that he has two sets of eyes, both at the front and back of his head. Orpheus would have been impressed.”
