New Zealand Artists Transforms Drab Utility Boxes into Internet-Inspired Works of Art

Paul Walsh is a self-taught artist based in Auckland, New Zealand, who has spent the last two years transforming his city’s drab utility boxes into colorful works of art inspired by internet memes. So far Walsh has spray painted 17 utility boxes with with the permission and full support of Chorus, the local telecommunications ISP, Walsh told GOOD: “Because these boxes are the physical conduits of the Internet, I decided to use Internet memes as the inspiration for the artworks.”
